Overview

Beverly Fink also provides support with day-to-day departmental operations. She is the point of contact resource for assistance or general inquiries for staff of the Observatories, Las Campanas Observatory, Carnegie Institution for Science headquarters, and the Institution’s other departments.  Subsequently, she is able to schedule and organize departmental activities, internal or external meetings, which can include arranging conference rooms, venues, audio/visual equipment, support materials and catering.

Along with the Director, Fink oversees Santa Barbara Street office space management and office assignments, coordinating space for new staff, scientific visitors, and colloquium speakers.  She secures travel and lodging arrangements for visitors, postdoctoral fellows and participants in the CASSI program. She acts as administrative liaison to the Magellan Council and her other responsibilities include posting Carnegie postdoctoral fellowship job announcements with the following scientific organizations: the American Astronomical Society, the National Society of Black Physicists and the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science. She also participates in Observatories and interdepartmental special projects and events.
