Lunch talk

This is a talk given at lunch time, usually in the conference room at noon.

Comparing Detailed Chemical Abundances of Globular Clusters Across Galaxy Types

Friday, May 10, 2013 - 9:15am
Janet Colucci (UCSC)

For the first time it has become possible to observe precise detailed chemical abundance patterns of old stellar populations beyond the Milky Way.  We discuss how this has been achieved with our original technique for analysis of high resolution integrated light spectra of globular clusters.

Dynamical Modeling of Galaxy Mergers: Connecting Simulations and Data

Friday, May 3, 2013 - 9:15am
George Privon (Virginia)

I will present dynamical models for several mergers from the Great Observatories All-sky LIRG Survey (GOALS), derived using Identikit. Identikit enables rapid parameter space exploration for mergers and greatly simplifies the process of obtaining dynamical models matched to individual systems.
