Stellar Population Fitting: Using Stars to Model Galaxies

The light from galaxies is made sum of many populations of individual stars, which can be modeled to tell us about the history of star formation in a galaxy. I'll discuss how this technique works, the assumptions and prior knowledge that go into it, and describe some recent results from my and others' work that rely on these techniques.

Note: Talk is at a later time and will be in the auditorium.
