Lunch Talk: Yanlong Shi (Caltech)
Seed black hole accretion in giant molecular clouds
In this talk, I will go through some numerical simulations of seed black hole (BH) accretion in star-forming molecular clouds, which is a pathway to intermediate-mass black holes or even supermassive ones. The first part of the talk will be the availability of super-Eddington accretion in these turbulent gaseous environments, then we will inspect the impact of BH feedback effects, including radiation, mechanical outflows, and cosmic rays. Finally, we will study interactions between seed BHs and newly-formed stars and how they potentially facilitate efficient migration and accretion of seed BHs.
