Overview

Liger is a second generation, adaptive optics (AO) fed imager and integral field spectrograph (IFS) designed to take advantage of the Keck All-sky Precision Adaptive-optics (KAPA) upgrade to the Keck I telescope. Liger will provide higher spectral resolving power (R ∼ 4,000-10,000), wider wavelength coverage (∼ 0.8-2.4 μm), and larger fields of view (< 13.2”×6.8”) than any current AO-fed IFS. I will present the overall design and current fabrication status of the Liger instrument, including some of the key science cases that drive Liger’s capabilities.
