Overview

The WINERED spectrograph recently started regular operation on the Magellan-Clay telescope. Its high efficiency and high spectral resolution, operating in the near-infrared, significantly enhance and enable a variety of science projects. The purpose of this April-foolish lunch talk is to advertise WINERED to potential users, describe a number of possible and currently ongoing WINERED science projects, how to plan and use the instrument, mention its idiosyncrasies and tell the story of how it got here.
